DAILY PRAYER REQUESTS

I pray, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, those pleasant mountains, and Lebanon.  But the Lord was angry with me on your account and would not listen to me, and the Lord said to me, ‘Enough of that! Speak no more to me of this matter. Deuteronomy 3: 25-26.

We all share this experience of Moses’ from time to time. He had worked so hard to take God's people into the Promised Land but because of His sin, the Lord refused Him entrance. God's position was firm. No matter how badly Moses wanted to be relieved of the consequences of his sin, God would not change His mind. We get it. Sometimes, no matter how hard we pray for relief from the results of our behavior, God remains unrelenting. Does this position negate God's promise to answer our prayers? Not at all. It is true that God will not honor requests contrary to His perfect will. There's a reason for that. Sin will eventually cause pain. It is a certainty. Painful consequences can be beneficial. They serve to teach us and others about the negative nature of wandering from God's perfect plan for us. They help us mature as Christians and remind us that the things of this world --- including the painful consequences of sin---are temporary. We remain hopeful in view of eternity. Moses only glimpsed the Promised Land from the top of Mount Pisgah. However, he eventually stood, in glorified state, with Christ on the Mount of Transfiguration.
